Monthly Multigenerational Religious Education Program

Sunday June 11 at 9:45-10:30 a.m. will be the final multigenerational program.  The program has been focusing on build up and strengthen our meeting for worship "muscles."   This program is for everyone, including newcomers, children, adults, and seasoned Friends.  On this Sunday there will not be an Adult Religious Education Program or First Day School. Childcare will be available during meeting for worship.


Children’s Service Project

On 2nd Sundays after taking part in a majority of meeting for worship, the older children will be going across the street to Hyde Park Union Church to help cook chili as part of Open Kitchen, the Hyde Park Kenwood Interfaith Council service project. Chili making is from 11:30-1:00 pm. Older children are invited to help during this time, for all of it or part of it.  About 200 people are served a meal once a week that is prepared by neighborhood churches.



Children's Religious Education

First Day School for children’s religious education is held concurrent with Meeting for Worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. The children are divided into two age groups: Explorers (ages 8 and older) and Wonderers (ages 3-7). Childcare is provided for children too young to participate in the programs. 



Adult Religious Education Program

Adult Religious Education meets on Sundays 9:15-10:15 a.m. The program is currently exploring Quaker faith and practice though the use of the Quaker 101 curriculum.



ILYM Annual Sessions

Illinois Yearly Meeting Annual Sessions will be held June 21-25, on the ILYM campus outside McNabb, IL.  This year’s theme is Open Hearts.  Annual Sessions is a time for people from all over the wide-spread yearly meeting to gather for worship, workshops, worshipshariing, fellowship, attending to business, and listen to evening speakers. Childrens and multigenerational programing is intermixed throughout the gathering. Additional information and registration can be found at Early registration due by June 1.



WYM Anunual Sessions

Western Yearly Meeting Annual Sessions will be held  July 27-30 in Plainfield, IN (outside Indianapolis). This year’s theme is Joined by Every Supporting Ligament (inspired by Ephesians 4:16). New this year will be a Friday evening “Festival of Fun and Fellowship.” Additional information and registration can be found at, Preregistration is due by July 13.

Summer 2016 Among Friends
